Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking a Certified Coder to assign ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT codes for physician services and ASC charges. The role focuses on accurate coding, charge review and reimbursement optimization within ophthalmology practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPC or CCS certification is required.
• 5+ years of medical billing or coding experience.
• Experience in Ophthalmology is a plus.
• Experience working in NextGen in a coding environment.
• Active knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines and coding policies.
• Demonstrated computer literacy, math skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts medical record documents to determine CPT procedures and ICD-10 diagnoses.
• Reviews physician notes and charts for accuracy.
• Ensures coded services, provider charges and documentation meet guidelines.
• Corrects charges posted by clinic staff and ensures all services are billed.
• Identifies and optimizes revenue opportunities.
• Works with departments to optimize reimbursement and charge capture.
