Job summary

EyeCare Partners in Norfolk, VA seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmology services. The role includes triage duties, patient intake coordination, and electronic record documentation, with a focus on accuracy and patient care.

Starting pay is $19-24/hr DOE. Requires a high school diploma with computer experience; at least one year in ophthalmic/optometric medical office; OSC licensure; and proficiency with Word, Excel and Access. Travel minimal; full benefits offered.

Qualifications

• The minimum education required is high school graduate with computer experience.
• At least one year of ophthalmic/optometric medical office experience which utilized computer, telephone and customer service skills.
• Must receive or maintain OSC or higher licensure.

Responsibilities

• Manage calls and questions from patients; prioritize based on severity.
• Act as information desk/patient guidance and schedule return appointments.
• Daily monitoring of tasks; process pharmacy requests, obtain authorization and document in patient records.
• Fax and electronically send items to pharmacy or physicians' offices as requested.
• Follow up on outside lab work and coordinate with doctors and patients.
