Job summary

Atrium Health seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmology operations in Charlotte, NC. The role emphasizes patient care, accurate documentation, and assisting with procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, performing measurements (BP, refractions, TA's, K readings, visual field testing, corneal mapping, autorefractor), and ensuring timely patient flow. COA/COT certification preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; COA/COT preferred.
• Experience in ophthalmology or eye care is desirable.
• Ability to document and assist with tests and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Informs patients of the purpose of tests and how they are affected during testing.
• Obtains patient history including chief complaint and allergies; updates medication sheet.
• Performs measurement tasks such as blood pressure, refractions, TA's, K readings, visual field testing, and corneal mapping.
• Assists in complex medical procedures and direct patient care, including post-surgical wound care.
• Determines next patient based on physician's bin or emergency.
