Job summary

Charlotte Eye Ear Nose And Throat Associates PA is seeking a compassionate Ophthalmic Assistant to support Providers with testing, exams, and patient care. You will perform clinical testing, assist with procedures, document findings in the EHR, and help keep busy ophthalmic clinics running smoothly.

The role requires a high school diploma and 6 months to 1 year of ophthalmology/optometry experience; ICAHPO/IJCAHPO training, COA/COT certification, and BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6–12 months Ophthalmology/Optometry experience preferred.
• ICA-accredited training or IJCAHPO/AAO independent study preferred.
• COA or COT certification preferred. BLS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet, room, and obtain patient intake and history.
• Document history, chief complaint, vitals in the EHR.
• Perform ophthalmic workups: acuity, fields, tonometry, refraction, etc.
• Assist providers with exams, treatments, and in-office procedures.
• Serve as a scribe when needed, with accurate documentation.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient communications.
• Prepare rooms, sterilize equipment, and restock supplies.
