Job summary

NERA - ReFocus Eye Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support our ophthalmology team in Westport. This role focuses on gathering patient information, performing preliminary examinations, and assisting with diagnostic testing to guide treatment plans.

The position requires experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, attention to detail, and strong communication. Certification to administer eye drops is required; COA is a bonus. Up to 40 hours weekly, on-site.

Qualifications

  • Must have Ophthalmic Technician experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification to administer eye drops is required.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and workflow.
  • Ability to perform indirect activities and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Gather comprehensive patient information with ophthalmologists.
  • Conduct preliminary examinations including visual acuity and pupillary responses.
  • Administer diagnostic tests: OCT, perimetry and ophthalmic photography.
  • Assist ophthalmologists during minor surgeries and laser procedures.
  • Manage patient flow in clinic and imaging rooms with clinical staff.
  • Administer eye drops (Certification Required).
  • Perform clinical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth workflow.

Your Impact:
  • Elevate patient care: Work closely with our ophthalmologists to gather comprehensive patient information, ensuring accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.
  • Master ophthalmic testing: Conduct thorough preliminary examinations, including visual acuity, pupillary responses, and more.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics: Administer a range of diagnostic tests, such as OCT, perimetry, and ophthalmic photography.
  • Assist in surgical procedures: Support ophthalmologists during minor surgeries, laser procedures, and crosslinking.
  • Streamline patient flow: Efficiently manage patient flow in clinic and imaging rooms, collaborating with clinical staff.
  • Administer eye drops: (Certification Required)
  • Contribute to clinic efficiency: Perform clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and organized workflow.
