Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to provide clinical support to physicians, with strong training pathways and no prior experience required. Ideal candidates will commit to COA certification within 18 months, maintain CPR certification, and contribute to a collaborative clinical team on the School of Medicine campus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • One year experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
  • Must obtain COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) from JCAHPO within 18 months of start date.
  • CPR certification also required.

Responsibilities

  • Asks every patient to state name and date of birth before testing.
  • Records patient history including ocular history and medications.
  • Measures and records visual acuity and intraocular pressure.
  • Performs ophthalmic testing as ordered by the physician.
  • Maintains examination rooms and inventory, including instruments and supplies.
