Job summary

Ascend Vision is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician (Certified or Non-Certified) to assist in preparing patients for providers, performing screening tests, and maintaining ophthalmic instruments. The role supports physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma and up to 1 year of ophthalmology experience; COT is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in ophthalmology, preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary ophthalmic care to patients and acts as clinical assistant to physician.
• Performs complete ophthalmic history and preliminary exams and sub-specialty tests.
• Verifies patient information and records data in EMR per standards.
• Prepares patients for examination by dilating pupils and communicating results.
• Maintains patient records confidentiality and ensures safe environment.
• Counsels patients on medications, drops, and postoperative care.
