Job summary

Desert Vista Eye Specialists in Mesa, AZ is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists by performing initial testing and preparing patients for exams.

You will provide exceptional patient care, collect medical history, enter data into the EMR, and assist with diagnostic tests such as visual fields and OCT. This role requires HIPAA compliance, strong communication, and willingness to work 40+ hours, including weekends when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements: High school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current COA/COT certification is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone).
• Greet patients promptly and professionally; thank them when they leave.
• Anticipate physician needs to facilitate clinic flow.
• Comply with HIPAA and company policies.
• Record patient medical history and current medications; verify visit purpose.
• Enter data into the EMR accurately.
• Assist with testing: visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography.
• Maintain exam rooms and stock supplies; assist in treatments and minor procedures.
