Job summary

Duly Health and Care is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician in Tinley Park, IL for a full-time role, with travel to Joliet and Oak Lawn as needed. The position involves extensive data collection, patient interaction, and a range of ophthalmic procedures.

Requirements include a High School diploma and COT certification within one year, plus at least 2 years in ophthalmology/optometry and experience with standard ophthalmic equipment. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain COT certification within 1 year of employment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in ophthalmology/optometry.
• Experience with standard ophthalmic evaluation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collect extensive patient data as delegated by physician for accurate diagnosis.
• Interact with patients with respect and professionalism.
• Explain processes and procedures to patients during visits.
• Identify patient needs and unusual circumstances from patient or family.
• Consult senior staff or doctors as needed, do not exceed capabilities.
• Provide telephone support for ocular emergencies, refills, and patient questions.
• Maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
• Obtain patient history including chief complaint and past history.
• Document accurately in EMR.
• Perform ophthalmic procedures: visual acuity, confrontational fields, motility, tonometry, refractometry, dilation, OCT, corneal topography, pachymetry.
• Assist in exam room maintenance and instrument sterilization.
• Prepare to take certification test and maintain HIPAA compliance.
