Job summary

Visionary Ophthalmology in Rockville, MD is seeking a Full-time Ophthalmic Technician II (Screening Tech) to perform comprehensive pre-exam screenings and diagnostic testing to support ophthalmologist evaluations. You will document results in the EHR, assist with referrals and prior authorizations, and handle equipment calibration while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The role requires COA certification (preferred) or active pursuit, strong communication, and the ability to travel to satellite

Qualifications

• COA certification preferred or actively pursuing certification.
• Experience in ophthalmic screening and diagnostic testing.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel to satellite clinics as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ophthalmic pre-exam screenings per protocols.
• Document screening results and tests in the EHR.
• Measure visual acuity, IOP, refractions, and basic motility assessments.
• Prepare patients for physician examination and dilation per protocol.
• Operate diagnostic testing equipment (OCT, HVF, fundus photography).
• Maintain equipment, monitor supplies, and ensure HIPAA compliance.
