Job summary

Target Optical is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support doctors and care for patients with high-quality eye care. You will assist during exams, manage records, and ensure a smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include preliminary evaluations, testing (OCT/biometry/topography), and clear patient communication. You'll prep equipment, follow HIPAA, and help with scheduling, with weekend/evening shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 1+ year of strong customer service skills.
• Strong communicator and listener.

• Ability to address priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to use exam software and ophthalmic equipment.
• Ability to work autonomously and understand office basics.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs preliminary evaluations including patient histories, medication lists, visual acuities, refraction, and dilation.
• Performs special testing such as OCT, biometry, topography and retinal imaging.
• Explains measurements to patients and answers questions with clarity.
• Maintains patient records in accordance with HIPAA and practice standards.
• Operates scheduling procedures and computer systems accurately.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment for staff and patients.
• Supports weekend and evening shifts as needed by location.
