Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to assist physicians in eye examinations and treatments at the Lions Eye Center in Louisville, KY.

You will greet patients, collect medical histories, verify eyewear prescriptions, perform refractions, and assist with eye dilations, lasers, and injections as needed.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, JCAHPO COA/COT preferred, and willingness to translate; Spanish ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• JCAHPO certification and COA/COT (preferred).
• Knowledge of ophthalmic testing (preferred).
• The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and escort them to the exam room.
• Obtain chief complaint, medical history, medications and allergies, and eye history.
• Check eyewear prescriptions with the lensometer and assess vision, pupils, motility, and visual fields.
• Perform refraction and eye dilation as applicable.
• Assist with lasers and eye injections in the office.
• Clean instruments and exam rooms; maintain and stock supplies.
• Ensure HIPAA privacy and security compliance and translate for patients when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
