Job summary

Dakota Eye Institute is seeking an ophthalmic assistant to join a fast-paced, patient-focused team in Bismarck, ND. You will support physicians by collecting patient information, preparing tests, and facilitating imaging and procedures required for accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, at least two years in healthcare (ophthalmology preferred), and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years in a healthcare setting preferred, ophthalmology experience beneficial.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities essential for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Acquaint new patients with office procedures and tests.
• Explain the purpose of tests and impact on patients.
• Collect patient history including chief complaint and ocular history.
• Document and measure patient data accurately as directed by physicians.
• Acquire fundus, exterior and anterior segment photographs and FA imaging.
• Assist with A-scans, keratometry and minor procedures.
• Support physicians with injections and sterile technique.
• Assist with laser procedures and maintain sterile standards.
• Monitor patient flow to keep exam rooms full.
• Travel to satellite clinics as needed.
