Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning and stocking equipment.
• Prepares patient for exam and assists physician; records history and chief complaint.
• Performs basic diagnostic tests and visual screenings (tonometry, visual acuity, etc.).
• Assists patients with ordering and dispensing glasses and contacts.
• Maintains and calibrates equipment.
• Sterilizes instruments using proper procedures.
• Assists with scheduling postoperative and specialist appointments.
• May assist ophthalmologist with routine procedures and postoperative care.
• Provides age-appropriate patient care and understands growth/development needs.
