SightMD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support physicians across our ophthalmology practices in Pennsylvania. The role includes patient preparation, basic vision screening, administering eye medications, and assisting in minor procedures.

You will perform pre-exam testing, advanced diagnostic tests, contact lens fittings, and ensure HIPAA compliance while maintaining clinic readiness and inventory. A COA or progress toward certification is required within two years.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
• COA certification required or enrolled within one year and completion within two years of hire.
• Strong customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Problem-solving with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable engaging in face-to-face interactions with patients and staff.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsabilités

• Greet and communicate with patients and families respectfully.
• Document chief complaint and medical history during intake.
• Coordinate prior authorizations for medications per insurance requirements.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity and dilation.
• Conduct advanced diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus photography, IOL Master, Pentacam, A-scan, B-scan, Wave Scan/Vario, keratometry, lensometry, and visual field testing).
• Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.
• Complete prescription refills as authorized and document in the chart.
• Track laboratory results and communicate with physicians and patients.
• Educate patients on medication use and pre-/post-operative instructions.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and lens care.
• Maintain inventory of ophthalmic supplies and instruments.
• Inspect and assist with maintenance of clinical examination equipment; report damage and coordinate repairs.
• Assist with cleaning surgical instruments and sterilization prep.
• Shutdown and clean diagnostic testing equipment as needed.
• Check and record medical refrigerator temperatures daily and manage inventory.
• Open and close exam rooms daily, including cleaning equipment and securing instruments.
• Assist with opening and closing the clinic, follow safety protocols.
• Monitor and respond to work emails; use Google Drive and shared tools.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient privacy.
• Participate in training and educational opportunities to stay current with best practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
