Job summary

Tufts Medical Center seeks an Ophthalmic Clinical Technician to support patient care in a high-volume ophthalmology practice. You will perform preliminary workups, visual screening, and assist with eye procedures under physician supervision.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, one year in a healthcare setting, and BLS or obtain within three months. Preferred: ophthalmic training and scheduling-system experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of healthcare experience.
  • BLS certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Preferred: ophthalmic/optometric/medical assistant training or AAO Home Study.
  • Preferred: experience in ophthalmic practice.
  • Preferred: experience with scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient history including chief complaint and medications.
  • Perform screening tasks and assist with physician-ordered tests.
  • Assist with ocular imaging and in-office procedures.
  • Prepare consent forms and clinical materials.
  • Set up exam rooms and ensure stock of medications and supplies.
  • Clean and disinfect instruments per guidelines; calibrate equipment.
  • Document exam components in EHR; support clinic flow.
  • Adhere to local, state, federal regulations in Ophthalmology.
  • May participate in clinical trials.
