Job summary

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of full-time work experience under ophthalmologic supervision.
• CPR - American Heart Association.
• Act 34 background clearance certificate.
• Act 33 child abuse clearance certificate.
• Act 73 FBI fingerprinting background clearance certificate.
• Preferred: JRCOMP approved program for ophthalmology assistants.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake including ocular and medical history, medications and allergies.
• Conduct routine ophthalmic tests (IOP, basic motility, visual fields, PAM and BAT tests, A-scan US, fundus photography, pupillary assessment).
• Assist the physician during in-office diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including instrumentation and sterile preparations.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications or diagnostic drops as required.
• Educate patients about prescribed treatments.
• Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments and surgeries.
