Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Ophthalmology Assistant to perform diagnostic eye tests and assist ophthalmologists during in-office procedures. You will handle patient intake, administer medications, educate patients, and coordinate appointments. A background with 1–3 years of experience under ophthalmologic supervision is required; JRCOMP program is preferred.

Compliance with HIPAA and background clearances is expected as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of full-time work experience under ophthalmologic supervision.
• JRCOMP approved program for ophthalmology assistants (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake including ocular history and medical history.
• Conduct routine ophthalmic tests (IOP, motility, visual fields, A-scan, fundus photography, pupillary assessment).
• Assist ophthalmologist during in-office diagnostic and minor surgical procedures.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications as required for testing or treatment.
• Educate patients about prescribed treatments.
• Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments and surgeries.
