Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• Basic medical and ophthalmic terminology.
• Two years of experience in a medical office preferred.

• Experience maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Accurate clinical documentation of physician findings, chief complaint updates, assessments, and treatment recommendations.
• Chair-side assistance during examinations, including positioning patients and preparing instruments.
• Monitor patient understanding and provide instructions; supply educational materials as needed.
• Correct documentation errors using approved formatting.
• Maintain two occupied exam rooms and support efficient workflow.
• Prepare glasses, contact lens, or medication prescriptions for physician signature.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and set up per physician preferences.
• Perform diagnostic testing (visual fields, acuity, pinhole, BAT, Schirmer’s, tonometry).
• Obtain consent and assist with minor procedures; coordinate specimen pickup.
• Complete superbills and guide patients to checkout; confirm appointments.
• Learns physician workflow and adapts to exam style.
• Surgery Center Support duties: cleaning, stocking, post‑op checks.
• Assist with events: setup, greeting, and cleanup.
