Job summary

Tufts Medicine in Massachusetts seeks an Ophthalmology clinical technologist to support patient care and manage the exam flow. This entry-level role focuses on preliminary workups, screenings, and diagnostic tests under supervision in a busy ophthalmology clinic.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians with in-office procedures, setting up exam rooms, and documenting findings in the EHR. High school diploma and BLS required; ophthalmic training preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• BLS certification or obtainable within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred ophthalmic/optometric/medical assistant training.
• Experience in ophthalmic practice is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history including chief complaint and ocular/medical history.
• Perform screenings and tests (vision, refraction, tonometry) as ordered.
• Conduct ocular imaging tests (OCT, Topography, Visual Fields) as needed.
• Prepare consent forms and assist physician with in-office procedures.
• Set up exam rooms with supplies, medications and patient education materials.
• Ensure instrument cleaning, disinfection and equipment calibration.
• Document exam components in the EHR and support clinic flow.
• Comply with local, state, and federal Ophthalmology regulations.
