Tenet Healthcare in Marietta, GA is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to greet patients, obtain histories, and perform basic diagnostic testing under supervision.

Responsibilities include testing acuity, lensometry, keratometry, refractometry, assisting ophthalmologists, maintaining records, and patient education, with travel between offices as needed.

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year of Ophthalmic Assistant experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of Ophthalmic Assistant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency using a computer and a lensometer.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a professional manner and document pertinent medical and ophthalmic history.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests accurately to inspire patient confidence.
  • Assist physician or optometrist with procedures, administer eye drops and medications, insert/remove contacts.
  • Triage patients based on appointment time and acuity to maintain smooth flow.
  • Travel between offices to staff other clinics as needed.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow in exam area and keep patients informed of waiting status.
  • Provide accurate documentation and patient education before and after procedures.
  • Ensure medical records are organized and secure with patient identifiers.
  • Obtain patient history and test distance/near acuity, visual fields, stereo, and color testing.
  • Perform lensometry on singe, bifocal, and progressive lenses and conduct refractometry with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer and other diagnostic tests accurately.
  • Understand ophthalmic medications including name, strength, dosage, and reason for use.
  • May perform ASC duties, including provider assistance or laser-related tasks.
