Job summary

Woolfson-Eye-Institute in Georgia is seeking an ophthalmic assistant to support physicians during patient examinations and treatments. You will document patient histories, perform routine diagnostics, and handle clerical duties with accuracy.

You must have at least two years in ophthalmic practice, experience with EMR, and strong communication, organization, and computer skills. Some early mornings and evenings may be required; travel to Sandy Springs 4–6 days per month.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in ophthalmic practice, cornea/cataract clinics preferred.
• Experience performing ophthalmic procedures and diagnostic testing.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Reliability and dependability.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office.
• Flexibility for early mornings and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient care
• Preliminary work-up: history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement.
• Manual refractions.
• Tonometry (Applanation, Tonopen).
• Diagnostic testing: Biometry, Topography, OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos.
• Take dictation and document exam findings while physician is examining patient.
• Administer drops under physician supervision.
• Write out necessary prescriptions.
• Take and explain tests, procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients.
• Maintain and stock all exam rooms.
• Clean and maintain all instruments.
• Assist physician in minor office surgery.
• Return and answer patient phone calls as needed.
