Ophthalmic Technician 1

The Opportunity

We’re looking for passionate and empathetic people to join our team as Ophthalmic Techs. Our Techs are responsible for all the pre-exam elements of the patient visit, including gathering and documenting patient information and history, and conducting routine and ancillary patient testing. You’ll play a vital role in the patient experience with OCLI and in helping our doctors diagnose and treat eye disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Test and record patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and collect and process specimens for testing.
  • Triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians’ schedule and maintain patient flow.
  • Prepare patient and procedure room and assist ophthalmologist with procedures as needed.
  • Perform first level maintenance on equipment and notify the office manager of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Utilize infection control techniques and universal precautions, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outgoing personality and enjoyment of patient interactions.
  • Dependable problem solver who remains calm in stressful situations.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Knowledge of ocular pharmacology is a plus but not required.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
