InVision Ophthalmology in Vestavia Hills, AL seeks a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to assist ophthalmologists during comprehensive eye exams, operate A-scan devices and tonometers, and deliver compassionate patient care.

This full-time position requires prior medical/ophthalmology office experience, EHR proficiency, HIPAA compliance, and the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced enviroment; schedule Monday–Thursday 8:00–5:00, Friday 8:00–12:00; pay $17.00–$20.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Prior medical office or ophthalmology clinic experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, anatomy and terminology.
• Experience operating A-scan devices and tonometers.
• Familiarity with EHR systems.
• Understanding HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Excellent patient service and compassionate care.
• Basic math for scheduling and billing.
• Knowledge of ophthalmology medical coding is a plus.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists in conducting comprehensive eye examinations, operating specialized diagnostic equipment, and providing exceptional patient care. Your expertise will help ensure accurate diagnostics, maintain clinical efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to improving patients’ vision health through precise technical skills and compassionate service.

Responsibilities

A full-time position in a busy Ophthalmology practice. Working up patients, performing testing, EHR, and assisting doctors as needed. COA preferred. Must be a quick learner and a multi-tasker. Hours will be Monday-Thursday 8:00-5:00 and Fridays are 8:00-12:00.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a medical office or ophthalmology clinic setting is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and medical terminology.
• Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan devices and tonometers.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
• Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to direct patient care.
• Basic retail math skills for handling appointment scheduling and billing processes when necessary.
• Knowledge of medical coding practices relevant to ophthalmology is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
