Job summary

Discover Vision Centers is hiring Ophthalmic Technicians to join Kansas City’s leading eye care team. You will perform preliminary testing, assist with check-in, and support the clinical team with various ophthalmic procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent communication skills and patient‑first mindset.
• One year of medical or ophthalmic office experience preferred.
• COA or COT certification preferred, but not required for otherwise qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and assist with check-in, ensuring excellent service throughout visits.
• Verify and record patient information, medical history, medications, and visit purpose.
• Perform preliminary testing: visual acuity, pupil assessment, refraction, dilation, IOP, EOM.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures: OCT, visual fields, GDX, IOL Master, auto-refractor, corneal topography.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with professionalism, assist with check-in, and provide excellent service throughout their visit
  
• Verify and record patient information, medical history, medications, and purpose of visit
  
• Perform preliminary testing including visual acuity, pupil assessment, refraction, dilation, intraocular pressure, and extraocular movement testing
  
• Conduct diagnostic procedures such as OCT, visual fields, GDX, IOL Master, auto-refractor, and corneal topography
  
• Demonstrate knowledge of ocular anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and medications
  
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring exam rooms and equipment are patient‑ready
  
• Support the clinical team with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned

*This position will also float to our Harrisonville clinic when needed*
