Job summary

Lavenburg Medical Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support eye care from diagnostics to treatment in Newark, DE and Elkton, MD. The role includes preparing patients and rooms, performing basic vision screening, administering eye medications, and assisting during minor procedures.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and medical experience is a plus. Travel to other locations is required to meet business needs and maintain service coverage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical and eye history from patient and document information using the EHR system.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
  • Perform screening and testing including visual acuity, color vision, auto-lensometry, autorefraction, tonometry, Amsler grid, and pupil evaluation.
  • Administer eye medications.
  • May assist physicians during minor surgical procedures.
  • Train to maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments.
  • Travel to other locations for business needs.

The Ophthalmic Technician performs a range of duties which includes preparing the patient to see Attending Physician (preliminary exam, medical history, & testing), preparation of examination and treatment rooms, performing basic and routine vision screening examinations, administering eye medications, cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments and assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures.
