Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a dedicated ophthalmology paraprofessional to provide direct patient care, assist physicians during examinations, and maintain orderly workflow across multiple clinics.

You will administer medications, collect data, educate patients and families, and document all care activities in the charting system. Opportunities for professional development and growth are available within a large integrated health system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Paraprofessional education in ophthalmology or optometry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and performs patient care procedures as directed and according to established criteria.
• Assists physicians during treatment, testing, refractometry and examinations.
• Maintains timely flow of patients and documents patient care and related information.
• Performs telephone triaging of patients and responds to incoming calls.
• Reviews and maintains charts and participates in QA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIs responsible for patient care.Rooms and collects patient assessment data.Administers medications and performs other patient care procedures as directed and according to established criteria.Assists physicians during treatment, testing, refractometry and examinations.Performs retinoscopy, refractometry, A/B scans, photography, fluorescein angiography, corneal/disc topography, assists in surgery, low vision evaluations, visual fields and applanations.Maintains timely flow of patients.Provides patient and family education.Documents patient care and related information.Respond to incoming telephone calls.Performs telephone triaging of patients.Follows up on patient care as needed.Reviews and maintains charts.Participates in QA & IEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma preferred.Prefer education as a paraprofessional in ophthalmology or optometry.CERTIFICATION/LICENSUREN/AOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESGood interpersonal/communicative skills neededLEVEL OF SUPERVISIONThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.SUPERVISESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.PAY RANGE:$19.40 - $34.10Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
