Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc is seeking a Medical Scribe to accompany physicians in patient exams, documenting history, physicals, diagnoses, and procedures with precise medical terminology.

You will record physician orders, assist with ophthalmic tests, and ensure accurate entry into the EMR, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and professional patient interaction.

Qualifications

• Strong medical terminology knowledge is required.
• Ability to interview patients and transcribe medical histories.
• Accurate transcription of physician encounters and orders.

Responsibilities

• Accompany physician to patient examination room and transcribe history and physical.
• Document diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.
• Record patient orders including labs, imaging, medications, etc.
• Document procedures performed by the physician.
• Verify patient information by interviewing the patient.
• Record data in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Monitor eye exam details: dilation, refraction, pressures, etc.
• Perform or observe ophthalmic diagnostic tests (visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, topography).
• Demonstrate knowledge of eye anatomy and ocular conditions.
• Support general office duties as assigned.

General Summary Of Duties The Medical Scribe accompanies a physician into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician. Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc. Documents any procedures performed by the physician. Strong Medical terminology is a must and recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details.

• Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave
• Practice urgency at all times with patient's time, as well as doctor's time and schedule
• Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA
• Verify patient information by interviewing patient
• Recording medical history, current medications and confirming purpose of visit
• Records all data in the patient's electronic medical record
• Checks condition of patient's eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements
• Required skills include: dilation, refraction, pressures, and performing a variety of diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography
• Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
• General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager
