Job summary

EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa is seeking an ophthalmic scribe to join our growing team. The scribe will document ophthalmic exams and procedures in real time, help coordinate patient flow, and support the physician to increase clinic efficiency.

We offer competitive hourly wages based on experience, 6.5 paid holidays per year, about 8 days of PTO in year one, health, dental, vision, and 401k, plus a certification program for wage growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous ophthalmic scribe or technician experience preferred.
• Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and thoroughly document ophthalmic exams and procedures as they are performed by the physician.
• List all appropriate diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the physician.
• Provide patients and/or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
• Perform other duties as determined by the department manager, facility administrator and doctor(s).

POSITION SUMMARY : The primary goal of the ophthalmic scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician in the clinic setting. The scribe must be able to anticipate physician needs, communicate clearly to patients and staff members, and effectively multi-task in order to facilitate clinic flow.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE :

• High school graduate, or equivalent
• Previous experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician is preferred
• Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines):

• Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Talking, Hearing.
• Physical requirements: Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time.
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform each activity.
