Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates in San Antonio, Texas is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists by gathering data and performing clinical tests. The technician will be proficient in eye care principles and maintain accurate records.

The role involves taking ocular and systemic histories, recording visual acuity, administering medications as directed, and assisting with in-office procedures while ensuring patient education and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• COA Eligibility preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by exam scheduled, patient history, and/or complaints.
• Enter data into electronic medical records while physician examines patient.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity accurately.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and ensure informed consent.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms and comply with regulations.
• Understand documentation requirements for quality reporting and testing frequency.
