Job summary

Cataract & Laser Institute is seeking a dependable Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team and support ophthalmic procedures in a fast-paced environment.

You will prepare operating rooms, maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, assist with patient positioning, and ensure safety protocols while collaborating with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to deliver compassionate eye care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
• Current Surgical Technologist certification required or per applicable state regulations.
• Current Basic Life Support certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• Select, assemble, and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Create and maintain a sterile field throughout each procedure.
• Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and pass instruments during surgery.
• Perform surgical counts and follow established safety protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning, room turnover, and preparation between procedures.
• Handle and label specimens according to established procedures.
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply or equipment needs.
• Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility safety standards.
• Accurately complete required documentation.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other team members.
• Help maintain a calm, patient-centered environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
