Job summary

Cataract & Laser Institute seeks a dependable Surgical Technologist to join our ophthalmic surgical team. You will prepare operating rooms, pass instruments, and help maintain a sterile field to support safe patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Accredited Surgical Technology program completion preferred.
• Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred or required by state regulations.
• Current Basic Life Support certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
• Previous operating room experience preferred.
• Ophthalmology or ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and surgical safety practices.
• Ability to remain organized and attentive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for ophthalmic procedures.
• Select, assemble, and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Create and maintain sterile fields throughout procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments during surgery.
• Perform surgical counts and follow safety protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning and room turnover between procedures.
• Handle and label specimens per procedures.
• Clean and sterilize instruments for reuse.
• Monitor inventory and communicate equipment needs.
• Follow infection-prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety standards.
• Accurately complete required documentation.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers and team.
• Maintain a calm, patient-centered environment.
