Job summary

Lakes Surgery Center in West Bloomfield, MI is seeking a Surgical Technologist (Non-Certified) for a part-time, on-site role. The technologist assists in ophthalmology and other surgeries under physicians and RNs, prepares ORs, and maintains sterile technique throughout procedures. BLS certification and 2 years of clinical experience are required.

The position includes duties such as instrument handling, patient positioning, and post-operative room turnover in a busy multi-specialty OR setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred but not required.
• Must have BLS Certification.
• 2 years of clinical experience as a surgical technologist.
• Must have experience with scrubbing Ophthalmology/Cataract cases, as well as other specialties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
• Sets up operating room with instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions.
• Tends to patient during pre-operation procedures.
• Performs pre-operation skin prep and equipment checks.
• Assembles and checks sterile and non-sterile equipment; ensures proper function.
• Prepares patients for surgery and assists with positioning.
• Observes vital signs and assists with gowning and gloving.
• Passes instruments and assists with counts; handles specimens.
• Operates sterilizers, lights, suction and diagnostic equipment.
• Transf ers patients to recovery and restocks the OR.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
