Job summary

Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a full-time, 40-hour per week role. You will maintain sterile fields, assemble instruments, and support nurses and physicians in the operating room to ensure patient safety and efficient surgical care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Complete an accredited surgical technology program OR CST certification.
• BLS Certificate required.
• One year of clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• In conjunction with the registered nurse, ensures that all required items (implants and supplies) are in place prior to scheduled operative cases.
• Assists in selecting and assembling instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures utilizing Universal Precautions; maintains aseptic techniques (gowning, gloving, surgical scrub, and OR suite traffic control).
• Responsible for the maintenance of equipment and supplies and ensures proper protection when transporting to sterile processing.
• Assists in transporting patients, case carts and equipment prior to and after completion of each surgical case.
• Participates in OR suite turn around by assisting in cleaning and case cart management (spraying of enzymatic solution) between surgical procedures.
• Ensures the proper handling of specimens and cultures in accordance with hospital procedures and best practices.
