Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and certified Surgical Technician with a specialty in ophthalmology to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of surgical procedures involving the eyes and demonstrate excellence in providing support to surgeons during ophthalmic surgeries. This is a vital role in ensuring the success of surgical interventions and maintaining optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment for ophthalmic procedures, adhering strictly to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Assist the ophthalmologist during surgical procedures by anticipating the needs and providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Organize and verify all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and in working order prior to the start of the procedure.
  • Provide expert knowledge in ocular anatomy and the specific requirements associated with various eye-related surgical procedures.
  • Assist in positioning patients appropriately for surgery, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Perform instrument counts before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure no items are retained, maintaining patient safety.
  • Participate in preoperative briefings and postoperative debriefings as part of continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) from an accredited program is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience assisting in surgical procedures, with a preferred focus in ophthalmology.
  • Excellent knowledge of sterile techniques and the ability to maintain them under pressure.
