Job summary

Atlantic Vision Partners seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe to collaborate with ophthalmologists and optometrists, documenting patient history and assisting in care-pathing across our clinics. Travel to various offices is required, with on-site training and paid certifications for growth.

Responsibilities include chart audits, patient services, and medication refills, using EMR systems and lensometer tools as directed by physicians.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple offices as required.
  • Billing & coding certification within 1–2 years of entering the role.
  • OSC certification within 1 year of entering the role.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document patient history
  • Follow AVP care-pathing model
  • Determine visual acuity
  • Understand routine and basic medical ICD-10 codes
  • Understand routine insurance plans
  • Use lensometer (manual and auto)
  • Stock rooms
  • Understand scheduling
  • Complete monthly chart audits
  • Handle medication refills
  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions as ordered
  • Enter data into EMR and provide patient services

Description

As an Ophthalmic Scribe, you will collaborate closely with our ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide high‑quality direct patient care. Atlantic Vision Partners invests in employees by providing on‑site training and paid certifications for continued growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Obtain and document patient history
  • Follow AVP care‑pathing model
  • Determine visual acuity
  • Understand routine and basic medical ICD‑10 codes
  • Understand routine insurance plans
  • Use lensometer (manual and auto)
  • Responsible for stocking rooms
  • Understand scheduling
  • Complete monthly chart audits
  • Responsible for medication refills
  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
  • Perform office duties and clinical tasks – entering data into EMR, providing patient services
Requirements
  • Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required
  • Must be flexible with traveling to various locations

  • High school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred)
  • Billing & coding certification required within 1–2 years of being in the role

  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position, including the use of power hand tools and lifting a minimum of 70 lbs
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to submit to a background check (drug screen for ambulatory surgery centers only)

Physical Requirements

Compensation

Wage transparency pay range: $16/hr – $19/hr. Actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, existing certifications, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
