Atlantic Vision Partners (AVPSEES Group) seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe I to join our growing network in the Midlothian, VA area. You will collaborate with ophthalmologists and optometrists to document patient histories, determine acuity, and support front-line care across multiple sites.

  • Billing and Coding Certification within 1-2 years.
  • OSC Certification required within 1 year.

Based primarily in Midlothian, VA, this role offers the opportunity to support a variety of practice locations throughout the region. Candidates should be comfortable traveling to Colonial Heights, Midway and other nearby sites as coverage needs arise.

About the Role

As an Ophthalmic Scribe I, you will collaborate closely with our Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to provide high-quality direct patient care. At Atlantic Vision Partners we invest in our employees by providing on-site training and paid certifications for continued growth

What You'll Do
  • Obtain and document patient history
  • Follow AVP care-pathing model
  • Determine visual acuity
  • Understand routine and basic medical ICD-10 codes
  • Understand routine insurance plans
  • Use lensometer (manual and auto)
  • Responsible for stocking rooms
  • Understand scheduling
  • Complete monthly chart audits
  • Responsible for medication refills
  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
  • Perform office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient services

  • Must be flexible with traveling to various locations
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable
  • The ability to recognize inconsistencies
  • High School diploma or GED, associate degree preferred
  • Billing and Coding Certification required within 1-2 years from being in role
  • OSC Certification required within 1 year of being in role
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including the ability to use power hand tools and lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to submit to a background check (drug screen for Ambulatory Surgery Centers only)
Pay & Benefits
Compensation

Pay Range: $16hr-$19hr

Actual compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, certifications, internal equity, and business needs.
