Job summary

Kleiman Evangelista Eye Centers of Texas is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Scribe to join our clinic team. You will document physician notes in the EMR and assist doctors during patient examinations.

This role emphasizes accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication with patients and staff. Training is available, and prior ophthalmic scribe experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of ophthalmic scribe/technician experience in ophthalmology setting preferred.
• COT or COA certification and ophthalmology knowledge or ophthalmic scribe experience desired.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in EMR and computer literacy.
• Well organized and attentive to detail.

Responsibilities

• Document physician documentation in EMR
• Medically assist the doctor through the patient examination
• Document procedures performed by the physician or ophthalmic personnel
• Transcribe the history, examination, impression, plan, results of tests, prescriptions, and orders
• E-prescribe medications in EMR
• Measure pupil size and reactivity
• Corneal topography
• Fundus photos
• Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement
• Retinal thickness and topography
• Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures and triage phone calls
• Prepare examination rooms to provide all needed medications, forms, educational materials, etc.
• Coordinate surgical needs with the surgical counselors
• Coordinate with check-in and check-out staff regarding patients
• Create and provide a positive, accountable, and inspired work environment
