Job summary

Katmai Government Services seeks an ophthalmology assistant to support the Refractive Laser Center. You will screen patients, escort them to treatment areas, and perform initial medical screening including acuity tests and tonometry. You’ll help with refractive surgeries when required and maintain equipment.

Responsibilities include preparing rooms, taking measurements, assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient safety and privacy. Requires CPR/BLS and prior ophthalmology experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be CPR/BLS certified and maintain certification.
• Minimum two years as ophthalmology assistant in the last four years.
• Ability to interpret medical instructions and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients and assist with check-in and initial screening.
• Assist with refractive and ophthalmic studies and minor procedures.
• Prepare and maintain equipment and patient rooms.
• Record measurements and manage health records.
• Administer medications under supervision as required.
• Ensure safety and privacy of patients and maintain a clean work area.
