Job summary

Frantz EyeCare is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician to support ophthalmic services in a busy practice with locations in Southwest Florida, including Naples. The role combines patient history collection, vision testing, and imaging, with emphasis on accurate EMR documentation and team collaboration.

Experience is preferred but not required. The position offers benefits such as PTO, 401(k), and life insurance, with Full-Time/Part-Time options as needed to fit staffing and patient demand.

Qualifications

• Obtains patient history and checks vision; records procedures in EMR.
• Performs diagnostic testing including OCTs, visual fields, FAs, and fundus photography.
• Fields patients’ questions during visits and via phone, resolving problems with the doctors.
• Uses, cleans, and maintains equipment and supplies.
• Preps and assists with in-office procedures per doctor’s orders.
• Submits prescriptions and refills with physician’s approval.
• Scribes and assists doctors with office procedures and patient care.
• Attention to detail.

Position Requirements

• Obtains patient history and chief complaint, checks vision, instills eye drops and charts procedures for medical records/EMR
• Performs diagnostic testing including OCTs, visual fields, FAs, and fundus photography
• Fields patients’ questions during visits and via phone, providing advice and resolving problems in consultation with the doctors
• Uses, cleans, and maintains equipment and supplies appropriately
• In accordance with doctor's orders preps and assists with any needed in-office procedures
• Submits patients’ prescriptions and prescription refills, with physician’s approval
• Scribes and assists doctors professionally and promptly with office procedures and patient care
