Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients professionally and respectfully.

• Performs documentation and measurements like lensometry, visual fields, OCT/photography, tonometry, pachymetry, and refraction.
• Maintains instrument function with routine checks and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Assists with triage, patient flow, and escorting patients between rooms and checkout.
• Maintains stock and cleanliness of exam lanes and supports administrative tasks.

JOB OBJECTIVE

This individual is responsible for performing an extensive number of data

collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper, professional diagnosis of patients conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma
• Two years minimum experience in an ophthalmic office

RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication and patient care

• Interacts with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by
• this practice.
• Obtains patient history, to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past
• history (ocular and general) and history of allergies and medications.
• Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks, to
• include:
• Lensometry
• Confrontational visual fields

• Applanation Tonometry

Instrument Maintenance

• Troubleshoots instrument repairs as necessary
• Replaces bulbs
• Checks connections
• Reports continued problems to Lead Tech

Clinic and Triage

• Returns patient phone calls and calls in prescriptions as necessary
• Escorts patients from the waiting room to exam/testing rooms
• Following testing, advises as to who will see them next
• Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician
• Escorts patients from the clinical area to the check-out desk

Administrative

• Helps maintain stock levels and cleanliness of exam lanes
• Check for outdates of eye drops in exam lanes
• Performs other duties as required
