Job summary

PRISM Vision Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians with measurements, testing, and patient history documentation. You will play a critical role in data entry, testing (OCT, visual fields, photography), and assisting with procedures.

Responsibilities include scribe work, patient education, and maintaining exam room readiness. This position requires 0–2 years of ophthalmic experience, a high school diploma or GED, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience (OA1).
• Ability to perform and document ophthalmic tests and patient history accurately.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and medical charting.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Record ocular and systemic histories and visual acuity.
• Perform required ophthalmic tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Conduct lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam and tonometry.
• Assist physician as a scribe and enter data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical or oral medications as directed.
• Ensure informed consent and patient education.
• Manage patient flow and maintain exam room cleanliness.
