Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s Department of Ophthalmology seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support patient flow, perform diagnostic tests, assist with minor in-office laser procedures and injections, and maintain orderly examination rooms across multiple sites.

Under supervision of physicians, you will gather history, conduct tonometry, visual field testing, and ensure timely care while upholding infection control standards; occasional travel to satellite clinics may be required.

Qualifications

• College coursework in natural sciences or related experience.
• Knowledge of lab hygiene, biohazard handling, and universal precautions.
• Ability to perform ophthalmic tests and document findings.
• Ability to communicate with patients and medical staff.
• Ability to maintain sterile ophthalmic equipment and rooms.
