Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe to support physicians in ophthalmology clinics. You will assist with patient history, perform tests, and document findings to ensure smooth patient flow.

PRN/Per Diem position focusing on accurate scribing, patient education, and collaboration with the ophthalmology team to deliver high-quality eye care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Graduate of accredited Vision program preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patient care and history collection.
• Perform ophthalmic tests and data entry as directed.
• Scribe for physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Educate patients on procedures and follow-up care.

Summary:

Performs high-quality ophthalmic procedures, focusing on patient care and education.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Advanced understanding of ophthalmic anatomy is required, as well as the ability to efficiently scribe for physicians.
• Promptly and professionally assisting the doctor in patient care, collecting patient history, and performing patient education.
• Performing technical workups to include visual acuity, lensometry, color vision, visual field tests (Humphrey and Goldman), manual keratometry, refraction, Amslers, muscle testing, topography, pupil exams, OCT, pachymetry, and other special testing as directed by physician.
• Advanced technical workups in performing retinoscopy and A-Scans as directed by physician.
• Follows physician protocol for A-Scans and fills in at Special Testing when needed.

Education/Skills

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of accredited Vision program preferred.

Experience

• 1 year of experience working at an Ophthalmology clinic setting preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required.
• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) preferred.
