Job summary

This onsite Ophthalmic Assistant role at Retina Group of Washington, Rockville, MD (part of Prism Vision Group) supports physicians with measurements and tests essential for diagnosis and treatment decisions. You will document diligently and ensure compliance with standards while delivering excellent patient services.

The position involves travel to other locations as needed, maintaining patient flow, and assisting with education and care coordination across the practice.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history; records visual acuity.
• Performs exams and tests (OCT, automated fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and angle assessment.
• Acts as scribe; enters data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical/oral medications.
• Assists with patient education and patient flow.
• Maintains exam room cleanliness and order; adheres to procedures and regulations.
