Job summary

Speare Memorial Hospital is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant for White Mountain Eye Care in Plymouth, NH. The role involves pre-visit planning, performing tests (Optomap, OCT, Visual Field, photography) and assisting providers.

You may dispense contact lens trials and train patients in lens insertion/removal, while coordinating with physicians for surgeries. The ideal candidate has health-care experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Clinical experience in a health care setting.
• Ability to respond appropriately to changing patient and staffing needs.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently plans ophthalmologic care for each patient prior to physician exam.
• Performs necessary tests (Optomap, OCT, Visual Field, Photography).
• Read glasses prior to exam and dispense contact lens trials as directed.
• Train in contact lens insertion/removal.
• Schedule surgeries as indicated by physician.
• Maintain knowledge of eye anatomy and common eye disease complications.
