Job summary

Prisma Health seeks an Ophthalmology Assistant to support the Ophthalmology-Practice Operations team. You will obtain patient history, prepare and assist with eye exams, and perform tests using Topcon auto-refractor, Humphrey visual field, OCT, and IOL Master.

You will help with scribing, scheduling surgeries and referrals, and managing pre-certifications. Strong computer and data-entry skills are essential to maintain accurate EMR records and support clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Ophthalmology Certification Program.

Responsibilities

• Obtains brief medical history and chief complaint from patient.
• Maintains patient’s medical record via electronic medical record.
• Sets up and assists with office procedures.
• Performs procedures/tests within scope of training such as refraction, visual field testing, and Tonometry.
• Assists physician by scribing and performing tasks during patient exam.
• Schedules surgeries, follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Obtains pre-certifications for surgeries as needed.
• Responsible for prescriptions and coordination with physician orders.
