Job summary

L.O. Eye Care Pc in Okemos is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant to join our patient‑focused team. You will gather patient history, guide tests, administer eye drops, and document measurements with a range of ophthalmic instruments. Training is provided to help you grow in this rewarding role.

Qualifications

  • Educational requirements: High School Diploma or GED; OMA Certification required after 90 days of employment.
  • No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Experience preferred but not required.
  • OMA Certification is required after 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and record patients' chief complaints and medical history.
  • Guide patients through tests and explain procedures to ensure understanding.
  • Administer eye drops and medications as prescribed.
  • Document key measurements and tests accurately using ophthalmic equipment.
  • Support patient flow and assist other clinic areas as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked clinic and high standards of care.
  • Monitor equipment and report issues to the Clinical Manager.

We also offer on-the-job training to help you grow and succeed in this rewarding role!Essential functionsThe following list is a summary of the key functions of the job and may not be inclusive of all duties assigned.Gather and record patients' chief complaints while capturing a thorough ocular and medical history, ensuring a smooth start to their care journey.Guide patients through their tests, explaining the purpose of each procedure and what to expect, so they feel informed and at ease.Administer eye drops and medications as prescribed, playing a key role in preparing patients for their provider's care.Perform precise and consistent documentation of key measurements and tests using a variety of tools and machines, including Visual Acuity, ARK, Lensometry, Visual Fields, OCT, IOL Master/A-scan, and more.Support efficient patient flow, seeing patients promptly and stepping in to assist other clinic areas when needed, contributing to seamless operations.Maintain a clean and stocked clinic, ensuring every area is ready for patient care and up to the highest standards.Monitor and report equipment issues to the Clinical Manager, ensuring tools remain in top condition for optimal patient outcomes.Adapt to new technologies, taking on additional tasks specific to your provider’s needs as advancements arise, making you a key player in innovative eye care.Core CompetenciesAt L.O.
