Job summary

L.O. Eye Care in Okemos is hiring a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant. You will gather patient histories, guide tests, and administer eye drops while documenting measurements with various ophthalmic tools. You’ll help maintain a smooth patient flow and a clean, well-equipped clinic.

On-the-job training is provided to help you grow in this rewarding role within a collaborative team environment at our Okemos location.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• OMA Certification required after 90 days of employment.
• No experience required.
• Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather and record patients' chief complaints and medical history to start the care journey.
• Guide patients through tests, explain procedures and expectations for comfort and understanding.
• Administer eye drops and medications as prescribed to prepare patients for care.
• Document key measurements and tests precisely using tools such as Visual Acuity, ARK, Lensometry, Visual Fields, OCT, IOL Master/A-scan.
• Support patient flow by seeing patients promptly and assisting other clinic areas as needed.
• Maintain a clean, stocked clinic and ensure readiness for patient care to high standards.
• Monitor and report equipment issues to the Clinical Manager to keep tools in top condition.
• Adapt to new technologies and take on tasks as needed to support the provider.
