At Star Construction, as a Pole/Anchor Operator - Telecom Construction, you’ll operate a variety of equipment used in installation, repair, and maintenance activities associated with underground construction or utilities, in a safe and effective manner.

What you’ll do as an Operator Telecom Aerial Equipment

  • All phases of telecommunication construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various materials and equipment.
  • Drive and operate pole/bucket trucks to/from/on the jobsite.
  • Place utility poles.
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, etc.
  • Operate mechanized equipment like bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, etc.
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones, safety barriers.
  • Flag traffic when required.
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations.
  • Work safely aloft using climbing hooks and ladders.

What you’ll need

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate utility trucks and equipment safely.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to climb telephone poles, work in bucket trucks, and work aloft/climb poles up to 40 feet.
  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed.
  • Previous construction experience, preferably in telecommunications.
  • Ability to perform duties like pole transfers, maintenance builds, new builds, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction.

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: Work alone in remote/confined spaces, operate vehicles/heavy machinery, perform fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, lift over 55 lbs, with potential exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens.
  • Occasionally: Exposure to chemicals, moving machinery, long drives, and sitting may be required.

Salary Range: $20.00 to $24.00/hr (based on experience)
